Odds and Ends

Our life hasn't been very entertaining lately. Just a lot of the same old, get up go to school come home life. Here are a few snipets of our biggest excitements :)

Math Maniac--Alex has mastered his multiplication facts and has become a 3rd grade Math Maniac! This is wonderful news and we are so excited! He's all eager to become a Math Maniac because they get to spend time in the hall during math class AND get a cool t-shirt to wear every Friday!

Speech-Katie's had 2 speech evaluations done by the district to see if she qualifies for services. Today she was asked to identify a picture of a fish. Only Katie can't say the f sound so it sounds like a B sound. She freaked out the speech therapist a bit, as the lady asked what did she just say???

Reading-I found a free book quiz website, called bookadventure.com. (It's from Sylvan's Learning center, but it's open to the public). The boys are in a fever to read, read, read. For each book you read, you take a quiz and get points. Once you accumulate a lot of points you get a prize. They are all about the 900 points for the free candy bar... As Sammy said, This is amazing, Mom. They'll give you candy just for reading. Yep-I'm all about intrinsic rewards..

Playtime--Daisy is past her 12 days of surgery and can now run about without getting in trouble. She is happy to run and play again... We've trashed all the stuffed animals and she is now in the process of destroying the "indestructible" puppy toys. She's up for another surgery in 2 weeks to get spayed, so we'll be back on the trying to keep a puppy down circuit...

Weather-It's been a pretty dry winter so far, we haven't seen a substantial snow in a while. It's been cold in Alaska, cold and windy... But the sun is coming out more and more each day and the sun is up about 12 hours this week!

And

So Sammy learned in 2nd grade that you aren't supposed to start a sentence with the word AND. So everytime he reads a book that has And at the beginning of the sentence he points it out to anyone and everyone, saying this author didn't follow the rules. Finally his 2nd grade teacher told him that when he goes to College he'll learn that he can start a sentence with the word And.

Now he's eagerly awaiting college so he can do this too...

Daisy's turn

Little Daisy was very sick over the weekend, we took her to the animal hospital and they operated on her and found that she had the head of spiderman in her tummy. Poor baby... You would have thought that the spidey powers would have been able to get out...

Growing Up

The kids all seem to be growing like weeds. I just went through closets over Christmas and clothes are still coming up short again! It's a good thing as we're still trying to climb the growth chart! Our little puppy, Daisy, is growing too... She's approaching the 5 month mark and getting bigger... She's all about the kids and just begs them to play. Here's a pic of her sitting on the couch just begging Alex to finish reading so that they could go play!

Did you miss me????

Sorry it's been a busy few weeks and I've neglected posting on the blog... The "girls" took a trip back east to see family and left the "boys" at home. Our long weekend turned into a week when winter weather cancelled flights. It's amazing how it's been warmer in Alaska than the east coast this winter! The temps was in the 40s in Alaska and 20s in PA!! Even today we had rain falling ontop of our snow as the temp was above freezing again... Strange winter so far in Alaska...
