Alaska Zoo Trip

Last weekend we had warm weather again, highs in the 40s. So we took a trip into Anchorage and stopped at the Alaska Zoo. It's a great place to go in the winter with the paths that exhaust the kids from running around. Here are some zoo shots for you...

Cough, Cough

We were eating in a restaurant with "real" glasses for kids to drink out of. Katie saw hers and her eyes got real big. She drank all the water in it. Then proceeded to have a fake cough. More water please, Katie coughing... Repeat this about every 5 minutes.... Where does she come up with it, my little drama child?

I'm growing...

In 11 months, Katie has grown 3 inches and 6 pounds. Topping out at 33 inches tall and 26 pounds. Moving up slowly on the growth chart to 5% for height and 10% for weight. I think she will always be a little thing. The good news is she's outgrown all the 24th month pants!

Alaska Moose

I've been working from home all week coordinating the statewide Battle of the Books tournament. One of the perks of working from home is the nice view. Four moose wandered into the yard this afternoon. Here's a shot of the baby moose, he posed for the picture!

The weather in Alaska has been unseasonably warm for most of February! The temp has been reaching the 40s during the day. Beautiful sunshine too that leads to false promises of spring!

Of course, the warm weather caused a delivery truck to get stuck in our driveway too. Now I have tow truck tracks in my yard!

Sledding Fun

The daytime temps have been warm lately, usually in the 20s. We got another 6 inches of snow on Friday/Saturday. It was nice to cover the other browner snow that hasn't had any fresh stuff lately... We headed over to the elementary school today to sled down their big hills.

Good Tidbits!

*Our Postplacement Visit #2 for Katie is done! And Katie was her typical charming self. Hard to believe we are coming up on our 1 year Family Day for her!

*Alex, my reluctant reader, has really taken off with the Junie B Jones books. It's great to see him laughing and reading... We may be turning the corner!!

*After waiting for 4 months, Sammy finally got his Lego Club Magazine. He is all Lego all the time and is on cloud 9 with this book all week...

*Our taxes are done and we are submitting them tomorrow! Yeah!! That adoption tax credit will go to some updates to the house, debt and maybe a family vacation somewhere new!

*Two of our friends are enroute to Magadan this week!! Good to see adoption travel taking place. Hope the weather is warmer in Siberia than Alaska!
